A conserted campaign is evident against people receiving benefits/allowances related to having a disability.A special advisor at the DWP is an ex Taxpayers Alliance bod .People may think it a coincidence that press releases from the DWP appear with a suitable quote from TPA in the tabloids and an almost permanent seat at the “impartial” BBC.It frequently and deliberately confuses IB/ESA,the most fragrant example appeared thus-
The basic fact that DLA is paid for the extra costs of having a disability and a non-out of work (indeed it helps many retain/secure employment ;non-means tested allowance;paid to children, adults and over one million pensioners is not hard to find out.The Daily Mail must in that case be deliberately lieing(it recently did this with regard to the Motability Scheme)-it has recently created a Corrections and clarifications section, which will be used to cover themselves-but of course the intention/harm has already been done-the headline and opinion made.
Thanks for these Hindel-a – the Telegraph page is due soon – I’m waiting to see if the firm that did the thermal imaging for the T. get back to me on some Q’s I sent them about their methodology.
Quotes the MAIN source-to get DLA you have to fill a very detailed 64 page document containing evidence from another party.DWP personnel make the decisions,if a face to face assessment(as if you can see kidney failure etc) was not undertaken it was not needed(and a total waste of money).
In some ways, the Telegraph is worse as it has pretensions of being a” quality” paper.
With regards to the Daily Mail – their useage of stereotypes and often derogatory comments aimed at individuals unfortunately lets them down and does tend to hinder further debate on their comments threads by encouraging the repitition of such attitudes which go nowhere in particular and often end up in some sort of hate fest. Something that was highlighted by a certain commenter on one of Simon Heffer’s pieces.
“When will the Empress of Europe and her French poodle ever learn?” Do you really think this is the sort of headline that will encourage healthy debate or are you simply trying to appeal to a certain type of reader who will just confirm what you are saying thus rendering these comment pages ineffective and nothing but a hate fest filled farce.

Thank you scabycat and Angel 10 you have helped restore my faith in human nature. I can never understand why many articles in the Mail seem to try and draw out the worst attributes of its readers by further encouraging bitter comments and sentiments which don’t really enhance the debate just turn it into some sort of mutual slagging off session. Try something more constructive and enlightening next time Mr Heffer and keep away from the derogatory remarks and you might just find your column will attract a wide ranging audience who would welcome the opportunity to be involved in a healthy and rewarding debate. And you never know you just might learn something too.
